Sagar Alias Jacky:Amal Neerad missed the bus this time

Sagar Alias Jacky was one of the most expected malayalam film in 2009.
Because of all the hypes going around, I was very eager to see the film and grabbed a ticket on the releasing day .Everyone is very much interested to see the movie because of the re-incarnation of the old hero Jacky,but for me,it was Amal Neerad. Amal Neerad started a revolution in malayalam film industry by his debut film BIG B which was a treat to eyes with its style and techniques.So after watching BIG B, naturally I became his fan. With all those expectations I entered the theatre to see the second film of Amal Neerad which stars Mohanlal ,our Lalettan,who is a maestro in his field.

The film started with a bang.Lalettan's intro was superb,but the shots,though technically good, was a repetition of Bilal's intro in BIG B. And not only the intro,the whole film features repetitive shots,the shots exactly similar to Amal Neerad's earlier film BIG B.The film is a Hi-tech Hi-definition film which is quite similar to Bollywood and Hollywood styles and showcases many Luxurious cars from Prado,BMW to Hummer and Ferrari.

Story of Sagar Alias Jacky start with one of the villains,the Rozario brothers, kidnaps Sagar's friend Manoj.K.Jayan.When Police failed to save him,Sagar Alias Jacky comes to India to rescue him on the request of Shobana(Manoj.K.Jayan's wife) and escapes him quite easily.This happens in the first one hour of the film,then....................................................................................... at last Sagar kills his enemies.
In the blanks,nothing to write.No story in this film.In between there is a small love 'story' between 'Bhavana',who is a press reporter and 'Sagar'. But in reality it killed the essence of the film.

Jagathi's Telugu 'comedy' is the most irritating stuff in the film.Likewise, there are many roles which have nothing to do with the film like Sona Nair,Bhavana(no need of such a character)etc.And when it comes to music,Gopi Sundar did well for the background score.Background music is really international.Gopi Sundar acted like a professional DJ for making such a rocking BGM. But when it came to songs,he failed.Quite miserably.His technique of highly westernising songs didn't payoff in Malyalam.

On the whole, a stylish, story less film. Amal Neerad did good. Mohanlal was stylish physically and verbally. Cinematography was excellent(except repetitive shots and locations from the earlier movie).But the movie lacks a base.Movie without a story cannot be called superb or awesome,even though it is ultra modern and stylish.And with all those expectations and Hypes, Sagar Alias Jacky was a disappointment. The film, though above average, wasn't up to expectations.
